HSBC Singapore Fixed Deposit

Recently, looking for a decent rate to deposit some cash.  My finding is that fixed deposit rate are all very pathetic, especially those offer by our big 3 local banks.  In the end, settle for 1.40% for 24 months.  No fish, prawn also good, no prawn then no choice got to eat ikan bilis.  ;-)

The Death of Black Panther Start 2020

Around the world this morning, everyone woke up with the news that actor Chadwick Boseman had died of colon cancer at the age of 43.  Boseman died at his home in the Los Angeles area with wife and family by his side.

Black Panther is one of my favorite Marvel character and I was shocked to hear this news.

"Black Panther" is the 2nd highest grossing movie at box offices worldwide in 2018, heralded for its vibrant celebration of African culture and applauded as a milestone for racial diversity in Hollywood.

Boseman had kept his health issue quiet while doing his best during filming and continue to do so till his very last day.   Chadwick Boseman death again remind us that life is precious and we should seek to do whatever we are doing, using our 100% capabilities.

In memory of The Black Panther. Chadwick Boseman. Rest In Peace ~ The King Of Wakanda.

The Rich and Ugly

HDB car park ramp are built for the handicapped but there are always some who are rich but behave improperly.  There is no point talking to such people and the best way is to report them to the authority and let the law take care of them.

Circuit Breaker Work From Home Woes

Due to the circuit breaker, more office employees are working from home and many are facing common issues like headaches, backaches, etc.
At home, we need to take breaks by walking around and move are vital. Humans are designed for an array of movements, not for sitting.

Try to keep a good upright posture, with the shoulder rolled back and the head directly above the shoulder. Every inch your head moves forward from neutral can double the workload for the neck and its muscles.
Ensure your desk is high enough so you can maintain this posture, with the keyboard meeting your hands easily and your screen raised to eye level.
Do take good care of your health during this crisis time.

Singaporean turn to Side Hustles While Waiting

As COVID-19 hit the Singapore job market, Singapore young adult are starting side hustles while waiting to land a full-time job.

In Mr Wijaya’s case, he has turned to freelance styling and design jobs to stay afloat.

Ms Mirah Jayy, 26, is the sole breadwinner in her family supporting her younger siblings and parents.
When she found herself without work due to the ongoing pandemic, the former theatre technician took up two part-time jobs even though the income was “less than half of her previous salary”.

Homebaker Yeo Wan Ling, 25, has been advertising and selling her cakes on her Instagram account Our First Bake since 2018, but she said she never expected to rely on it until she was retrenched from her first job as a creative associate in a food-and-beverage consultancy firm in March.

Mr Chiam plans to use the downtime to focus on, among other things, building his brand, SG Good Life — a lifestyle blog and a YouTube channel, with the eventual aim of monetising it.

Accepting any job in this climate, even if it is a series of part-time jobs, is not a bad idea as well, she said, as it shows “resilience” in a job candidate which recruiters look out for.

When Retiree Leave Your Money in CPF Bank

Almost every year, there will be a news reported that retirees lost their hard earned money from investment.  Even after Lehman Brothers Minibond saga in 2008, not sure why MAS still allowed Banks to sell unsecured products to those ah gong and ah ma.

Everytime something happend, the scape goat will be the Relationship Manager, but who rent the place to RM.  Most consumers will assume that the product is from the bank and let their guard down.

Anyway, sueing might not help as Banks have sharks lawyer.  Best way if you are a son or daugher, do keep your old papa and mama inform and avoid those RM sharks that greet you with a BIG smile at the bank entrance.

Wear A Face Mask To Save Lives

Wearing a face mask is like putting on your car seat belt, it save lives in the current conronavirus infected society.

Just look at Australia, they were successful in controlling the conronavirus and health authorities recommended that face mask does not reduce the risk.   So, majority of the Australia population goes mask down.  The next moment, we see Australia conronan virus cases started to spike up like nobody business.

Australia is a good case study that as long as there are still conrona virus cases around the world. face mask and social distancing must remain unless the country decided to isoalate itself from the rest of the world and be self sufficient in all their daily items.
